Do natural materials like flax and willow inspire you to create? Let Jodie show you how to use your imagination and pictures to construct wonderful native animals from the bush.
Create a bird with a simple framework of wire and slowly ‘flesh out’ surfaces using the basketry technique known as interlacing or random weaving. Tools and materials provided by Jodie.
Participants are asked to bring: BYO gloves.
Artist Bio
Jodie Goldring is a notorious gleaner, Sculptor and Art Teacher who has a broad range of creative experiences to share. She has created sculptures using basketry techniques for group and solo exhibitions for two decades. In 2007 she joined the Basketmakers of Victoria and through long term membership in this generous community organisation has developed many skills and techniques. She has taught art making to people of all ages in a wide range of contexts. For example, in January she shows families how to weave lavender wands at a Harvest Festival to help them engage meaningfully with the event.
