Eva and Jan will demonstrate traditional hand techniques to produce simple jewellery and object artifacts using combinations of fibre textiles, metals and organic/found materials.
The workshop will guide participants through the historical and cultural relevance of the hand-made artifact, with specific focus on making traditional string and coil weavings. All participants will leave the workshop with a finished piece, as well as a greater understanding and knowledge of traditional cultural arts techniques.
Artist Bio:
Eva Ponting is a proud Gunditjmara woman, mother, nanna, aunt, sister wife and friend from the Rose mob.
She started studying art at GOTAFE Shepparton in 2007. It was in these Koorie arts class at TAFE that her journey of art started. She loves to do all different types of art weaving, painting, jewellery, lino, prints, etching. She is now in her second year doing a Diploma in Graphic Design.
She has taken a professional role as an artist over the past three years and has the talent and aptitude to be successful in the field. Eva is serious about developing her professional networks and reputation as an artist and the cultural development of her community.
